Award-winning storyteller Jason Buck and I will be back at the Great Roundhouse at Butser Ancient Farm on Friday 26th May. A perfect way to kick off a spring weekend, and the start of the half term holidays.
If you’ve never been to a live storytelling show, it’s pretty magical. Someone stands in front of you and tells a tale – no props, no edits, no pause button. The traditions of oral history and storytelling are as old as humanity- and to listen to stories around a crackling fire inside a thatched roundhouse deep in the Hampshire countryside? You can’t really beat it.
In our archaeological storytelling shows, we start by sharing the real archaeological science and background of the site and artefacts, then launch into a unique tale inspired by those facts. A leap of imagination, if you will, to bring the past back to life.
Each show is 2hrs, with an interval. We’ll be performing at 4pm and 7pm. Jason and I suggest the show is suitable for ages 8+. It’s bascially for adults, but suitable for older kids. There’s a bit of fighting, a mammoth hunt (you might be able to guess what happens to the mammoth :-/), and a scary monster/child that lurks in the water.
You can get tickets for the 4pm show here: https://www.butserancientfarm.co.uk/whats-on/storytelling-saxon-kings-ice-age-magic-families
And the 7pm show here: https://www.butserancientfarm.co.uk/whats-on/storytelling-saxon-kings-ice-age-magic
I’ll also have my books available on the night if you’d like a signed or dedicated copy.
